March 2023

Hanoi (Vietnamese: Hร  Nแป™i) - the capital of Vietnam is the second largest city of this Southeast Asian nation - after Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).

Hanoi is is known for its mix of architectures of Chinese and French influences, its delicious food and the millions of scooters on the streets. It is a must see city on a trip to the northern part of the country.

Our walk starts starts at the Ngoc Son Temple, situated on a small island in Hoan Kiem Lake. After visiting the temple, we’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Hoan Kiem Lake, enjoying the Sunday atmosphere with locals out in the street.

Next, we’ll make our way to the French Quarter, where we’ll see some of the city’s colonial history. We’ll then continue our journey to the St. Joseph Cathedral, an example of Gothic architecture in the heart of the city.

Finally, we’ll wrap up our tour by visiting the vibrant and chaotic Old Quarter. This quarter is considered the heart of Hanoi where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade. We’ll explore the maze-like streets and bustling markets filled with local vendors selling everything from traditional crafts to street food.

The night market near the ฤแป“ng Xuรขn Market is just getting started as we finish our walking tour again walking down to the Hoan Kiem Lake for a final view of the lake at night time.
