Walking in OSNABRÜCK / Germany 🇩🇪

City Center on a Sunday

Osnabrück / Germany is a city in the northwestern state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen). Osnabrück is known for the 1648 Peace of Westphalia treaty which ended the 30 Years War.

We start our tour of Osnabrück in the Schloßgarten of the Osnabrücker Schloss, which is a palace now used by the local university.

We walk into the city center with the market square. We see some older streets with gabled houses and also St. Peter’s Cathedral (Dom St. Petrus), a late Romanesque building where we have a look inside. The first version of St. Peter’s Cathedral was built in the year 785, while the current form was built gradually after around the year 1100.

Further along in our walk we leave the city walls of Osnabrück, see some more modern districts outside and get back to the center. It’s fairly quiet on this Sunday as shops are closed and people gather in some cafés outside.

We end our tour at the St. Peter’s Cathedral where we start another walk in Osnabrück: https://youtu.be/s88BB-kQS9o
