Walking in AUGSBURG / Germany πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Central City and Fuggerei

Augsburg is one of Germany’s oldest cities. Located in Bavaria, Augsburg is a 30 minute train ride from Munich.

We start our Augsburg tour at the Augsburger Dom and visit the cathedral for a look inside. Next we stroll through the Hofgarten which is a nice little oasis in the historical old town.

As we head South we enter the city centre visa the city market into the shopping streets. There in the centre we walk around a bit to see side streets before we go further South to the Augsburger Zeughaus and KΓΆnigsplatz.

The tour continues towards the inner city going to the central Rathausplatz with renaissance buildings like Augsburg’s Town Hall.

For the last part we walk out of the centre again North-East to the the “Fuggerei”. Founded in 1516 by Jakob Fugger the Younger, the Fugger banking dynasty ran the world’s oldest social housing complex for needy citizens of Augsburg, which is walled and still in use. We spend a good 10 minutes there before we end our Augsburg walking tour.
