Description

Let's walk through the historic heart and lively streets of Dresden, the capital of Saxony.

On this walking tour we are starting at Postplatz. We'll step straight into the city's royal past at the magnificent Baroque Zwinger and its newly restored courtyard.

From there, we'll cross Theaterplatz to admire the famous Semper Opera House, the Catholic Cathedral, and the towering Royal Palace.

Next, we'll follow the 102-metre porcelain mural of the Procession of Princes and peek inside the 16th-century Stableyard.

Our route leads us to the rebuilt Neumarkt square and the iconic sandstone dome of the Frauenkirche, or Church of Our Lady.

After exploring the historic streets around the Kurländer Palace and the Albertinum, we'll head up to Brühl's Terrace - known as the "Balcony of Europe" - for sweeping views along the River Elbe.

Later, we'll cross the historic Augustus Bridge to discover a completely different side of the city in Neustadt on the northern bank.

Along the way, we'll walk past riverside gardens, the gleaming Golden Rider, and the East German architecture of Hauptstraße before diving into the vibrant street art and hidden courtyards of the alternative quarter.

Our journey will eventually wrap up at the grand Dresden-Neustadt train station after a comprehensive look at more than 800 years of local history and culture.
