Osnabrück, Germany

Osnabrück is a major urban center in northwestern Germany's state of Lower Saxony, home to roughly 168,000 residents. Founded by Charlemagne around 780 AD as a bishopric, the city earned fame as a co-signatory site for the 1648 Peace of Westphalia, ending the Thirty Years' War. The historic center features the 17th-century Town Hall of the Peace of Westphalia, Saint Peter's Cathedral, and timber-framed merchant houses. Cultural institutions include the Felix Nussbaum Haus museum, designed by architect Daniel Libeskind to showcase the artist's works.
